"The Sky Right Now", soupape de création cathartique pour son auteur, renoue avec une certaine idée de l'IDM cinématique et dystopique popularisée par le mythique duo Boards Of Canada.

First up to bat is an EP composed by Conrad Burnham.
The Sky Right Now was created under Los Angeles’s apocalyptic sky and flurry of ashes, during last year’s wildfires.
It was a moment further exacerbated by the pandemic and the assassination of George Floyd.

The Sky Right Now, a sort of cathartic creative valve for the artist,
entertains a certain cinematic and dystopic feel, popularized by the
mythical duo, Boards Of Canada. This electronic soundtrack is
conducive to movement as well as introspection, at the same time
rhythmic, ethereal, mysterious and haunting.

"This EP was recorded from April to July 2020 in the midst of the lockdown and protests in the United States. My wife and I attended the protests, and continue to support different causes including Trans Rights and BLM organizations.

This recording is a response to this period in time, but also an attempt to hold onto a form of sanity in the midst of all this uncertainty.

"I would like to thank my wife Tara Cassady for support and encouragement. I am also grateful for early feedback on the record from my parents, and friends Nelson Hallonquist, Albert Ortega, and Brian Kupillas. And lastly I would like to thank Bolanile and Gilles Mate for taking this project on."

Gear: Dave Smith Mopho X4, Electron Octatrack, Korg Volca FM, Strymon Blue Sky, Eventide Pitchfactor, Korg Kaoss Pad, Tascam DR-05, Morley Volume Pedal and a homemade lap steel. Recorded in my bedroom studio in Los Angeles California.
